The virtual racks - all new in 2011

virtual UAD rack1 virtual reverbs The Universal Audio powered plug-in system uses the UAD-2 PCIe card with the powerful Sharc processor.

UAD-2 PCIe card

The UAD-2 system provides the extra computing power necessary to perform the complex calculations needed for the incredibly detailed modeling of both the original circuitry, along with the non-linearities inherent in analog systems. It has significantly more processing power than it's predecessor, the UAD-1, so several instances of these plug-ins can be available within a single project, and without drawing CPU power from the host computer (Apple Mac Pro Xeon Quad-Core).

The plug-ins shown in the virtual rack on the left are super authentic recreations of legendary analog gear used on many hit records of the past several decades. The original sound, function and response are duplicated to exacting standards approved by the original manufacturers and designers, although significant enhancements have been added to take advantage of the modern digital age, such as true stereo operation, preset management and automation.

Another division of Universal Audio Digital creates brand new plug-in design making full use of modern technology, showcased by the Acoustic reverb toolkit shown on the bottom of the virtual reverb rack, which lets you graphically chose shapes, reflective surfaces and sizes. Above this is a 21st century version of the old analog spring reverb designs from decades ago, Spring Age by Overloud, which features several fabulous enhancements not possible on hardware spring reverbs. These plug-ins just sound amazing!
